New Dwelling, West Bromwich
This project will shortly be commencing on site. A new three bedroom dwelling with integral garage will be built on an upper plateau within the grounds of our Client’s existing dwelling. The plateau, in the vicinity of a former quarry high wall, requires a piled foundation and ground beam solution to the dwelling. Piling investigation works have been instigated to satisfy the Local Authority that a new dwelling to this location is feasible. Many design approaches were presented to the Client, the more traditional approach chosen being more akin to the existing built form of the road. The mass of the dwelling has been carefully considered to the east elevation in order that the impact of the new dwelling on the lower sited existing dwelling is minimised. The dwelling has split levels to follow the line of the existing land and to reduce on site earthworks. To the rear of the property the master bedroom benefits from a glass ‘Juliet’ style balcony with full height glazed french doors.
